“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.” 2 Corinthians 1:20
Can you right now call to mind three promises God has made? Try it.
Here are mine:
- “I will never leave you or forsake you ” Joshua 1:5
- “Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood” Gen 9:11 (we have had widespread flooding in my area recently)
- “Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it” Malachi 3:10
Now take a moment to reflect on 2 Corinthians 1:20. All the promises God has made are “Yes” in Christ. He will keep his promises. Not “Maybe” or “Probably”, but “Yes.” Let that sink in.
What is s there left to do? Give thanks and say “Amen.” That is a positive affirmation, a declaration of faith.
Take those three promises. Now pray them back to God with an emphatic “Amen!” That is how we take the next step of faith.
