Prayer is immersion in beauty

“Prayer is immersion in beauty–God’s beauty.  Talking to Him regularly allows us to see His beauty in many places.”  Mike Bickle, Growing in Prayer p. 18

I came across this in Mike Bickle’s book and it really struck me.  I had to stop, and the truth resonated deeply with me.  So much in the Bible that points to beauty is related to God and our relationship with Him and His interaction with the creation. (more…)

Getting closer

“My feet have avoided every evil path so that I can keep Your word.” Psalm 119:101

I pray this prayer, and the truth is something else because my feet have not  avoided every evil path and I have not always kept God’s word.  But in praying this line, I find myself wanting to be on the right path and lining up with the word of Truth.

Here’s what I’m learning:  The lines of Psalm 119 are meant to intensify our longing for God (especially through His word).   (more…)

Salt is good

Salt is one of those things we take for granted today, kind of like clean air.  We only notice it when it’s not there anymore.

“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again?”  Mark 9:50a

For most of us, that verse makes little sense.  How can salt lose it’s saltiness?  What is Jesus talking about? (more…)
