I got back a few days ago from a week of wilderness camping with the family which was refreshing for the body and spirit.
After two disappointments yesterday, I had to choose joy over annoyance. And then this morning, unexpectedly, I got this: “In your light I find my strength/In your truth I overcome/In your praise I lose myself/For in your love…
You’ve turned my tears of sadness/into such joy and gladness/My heart can’t keep it in/I’m shouting, shouting
In your joy I find my strength/In your hope I overcome/In your grace I lose myself/For in your love…
You’ve turned my tears of sadness/into such joy and gladness/My heart can’t keep it in/I’m shouting, shouting

That was a big pick-me-up! And then I also got this nugget of God’s truth.
There’s a Hebrew word that means “long for” or “desire” that is only used two times in all of the Bible. It is ta’av and the two times it is used are both in Psalm 119. The first one is in verse 40: “Look! I long for Your instructions; in Your righteousness, You give me life.” The second and last time we find this word is almost at the end of Psalm 119, in verse 174: “I long for your salvation Yahweh, and your teaching (law-torah) is my delight.”
God, give me that intense desire for your word, for hearing your truth, for being close to You! You are what I long for. My heart can’t keep it in; I’m shouting and shouting!
Let’s make that our prayer today.
