Journey with Jesus
Our family just finished reading and praying through Book 1 of Journey with Jesus: Praying Your Way through Matthew’s Gospel.
As Book 1 ends, you have just completed the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7). This is a challenging portion of the Bible, especially if you take it as the standard for our behavior and thoughts and devotion to God.
Our family, which includes two adults and two boys (ages 12 and 10), shared the duties of reading aloud and leading the prayer with a little bit of conversation about the topic. It was not a Bible study, it was a time of family worship and encouraging each other.
As we ended, the boys asked, “Is there more?”
Good question. I told them we have Book 2 next, and they were a little surprised and also happy. That doesn’t mean that everyone is always thrilled when it’s suggested we do the devotional (which is most evenings, but not every single day). But there’s been no serious resistance to doing this, so I can say the devotional is “kid-friendly”. I also found a few things I would like to change. The wonders of electronic publishing makes that possible.
Our family is on the journey together. How about you? Can you share something about your own journey with Jesus?
